Milestone Tracking
Milestones help you break down large goals into smaller, manageable checkpoints. They give you a clear sense of progress and keep you motivated as you work toward your ultimate goal.
What are milestones?
A milestone is a significant checkpoint or sub‑goal within a larger goal. Think of it as a step on the way to completing your main goal. For example:
- Goal: "Ship v2.5.0"
- Milestones:
- ✅ Design system tokens
- ✅ Timer + timeline link
- ⏳ Drag timing UI
- ⏳ Beta testing
- ⏳ Launch
How milestones work in Paxalia
Milestones are tracked within goals. Each goal can have multiple milestones, and each milestone has:
- Name — the milestone description.
- Completion status — whether the milestone is completed or still open.
The goal's progress is calculated based on how many milestones are completed. When all milestones are completed, the goal is considered complete.
Tracking milestone progress
On the dashboard, you can see the progress of each goal as a visual bar. The bar fills as you complete more milestones:
- Green milestones — completed.
- Grey milestones — incomplete.
This gives you a clear, at‑a‑glance view of how close you are to completing each goal.
Why use milestones?
- Break down big goals — large goals can feel overwhelming. Milestones make them manageable.
- Track progress — you can see exactly how far you've come.
- Stay motivated — each completed milestone is a small win that keeps you going.
- Communicate progress — milestones help you share your progress with team members.
Best practices
- Keep milestones small — each milestone should be achievable in a short time.
- Make them measurable — you should know exactly when a milestone is complete.
- Celebrate each win — take a moment to acknowledge each completed milestone.
- Review regularly — check your milestones regularly to stay on track.
